The shade of the only large trees on the airport property were unneeded on this cool day.

Denis Godin and Steph Nicholds were the prime movers in organizing the BBQ.

Denis Godin was an excellent Master Chef for the day.

A pause in the chatting while First Air's noisy 727 trundles off Runway 32 for its daily trip to Iqaluit.

Friendly conversation and a chance to show spouses what aircraft spotters actually do.
About 30 members, guests and spouses enjoyed an outdoor barbeque on the airport property near the Combined Services Building (off Alert Road) on Saturday 18 August 2007. Although sunny, the weather was cool with a relatively low temperature and strong wind, but everyone warmed up once the burgers, dogs, salads and soft drinks were ready. Although the mid-day Saturday air traffic was light, there were some interesting movements as police and military air units prepared for the arrival of the US and Mexican presidents the following day for the Three Amigos North American Summit at Montebello Quebec.
Everyone in attendance agreed that Denis Godin and Steph Nicholds had done a great job in organizing the outing; a formal motion at a subsequent general meeting ensured that the barbeque will be an annual event. The Watch thanks the airport's Combined Services Unit and Fire Service for their assistance in making our 1st Annual Summer BBQ happen.
